A Pet-Friendly Pub & Inn

At our Honeycomb House, it’s our house, your home. So of course, your furry family members are welcome too.

Dogs and cats (yes cats!) are more than welcome in our pubs and rooms, and if you ask one of our team members they’ll be more than happy to bring your four-legged friend a fresh bowl of water.

From jars of doggy-friendly biscuits to Denzel’s dog treats and bowls of water/ milk, your beloved pet will feel right at home here. Pets are allowed in the bar, but not the restaurant as we believe the bar is a more relaxed area and our furry friends will be happier there.

Here at the Lion, we have a rather special regular guest. Billy, the cat. Billy is the famous wonderer of Wendlebury and whilst has no permanent residence in the village, he is rather fond of the Lion. Often found lying under a tree keeping cool in the summer, or curled up in front of the fireplace, Bill is a friendly little creature, who loves the team members and locals alike. Billy has been with us for 5 years and is certainly a cherished part of the Honeycomb family.

If you’re staying the Lion and can’t bear to part with your pet, then why not bring them along? For an additional £20, you can book your pet into your room. We’ll supply some delicious pet treats and make sure everything is spick, span, and suitable for pets.

In the mornings, why not take your dog for a stroll through the village, past the park, and along towards the farmers’ fields – it’s a walk all doggies and owners enjoy! Take a look at our other blog post ‘Best Dog Walks in Oxfordshire’ for some dog-friendly strolls.

Of course, all this walking can cause some serious hunger. Why not book a table in our restaurant? Enjoy your walk, then head back to the Lion for some sensationally scrumptious food and tipples! Join us on a Sunday for a big fat roast with duck fat roasted potatoes, maple glazed rainbow root vegetables & cabbage, leeks & peas, Yorkshire pudding, traditional gravy.

Don’t forget, all our sister houses are pet-friendly. The Nag’s Head is only 17 miles away (25 mins in the car), and is situated right on the river, in fact on its own little island. The Nag’s Head is dog friendly inside the bar and all of outside. To find out more about The Nag’s Head, click here. To see all sister houses, click here.
